MY STORY

ABOUT ME

Dia duit - that's hello in Irish!  My name is Amy Dillon and I am the creator behind Celticara. I am mother to two awesome kiddos under six, an artist, amateur harpist, history and ancestry nerd, lover of all things Celtic and Irish, dendrophile, spiritual seeker, climate activist, earth warrior and most recently,

a community radio program host!

My husband and I moved to the beautiful island of lutruwita ~ Tasmania back in 2016 and it is now our beloved forever home, with both our children being born here. The natural beauty of the Tasmanian wilderness, and the European influenced landscapes of deciduous trees and hawthorn hedged country roads, totally captured our hearts and minds. We are blessed to live in a very pretty and community-minded country village, on Pallitorre indigenous lands, that were later settled by predominantly Irish ex-convicts and military

pensioners in the 1830s.

My own Celtic links take me back to Western Australia and South Australia, where my Irish, Scottish and English ancestors first settled several generations ago. Beyond that, we return to distant homelands, from North West Kerry in Ireland to Aberdeenshire in Scotland, to South Oxfordshire and Sussex in England, places I feel deeply inspired and connected to as part of the greater Celtic diaspora. I have been lucky enough to visit the motherlands of my ancestors several times in my life.

That innate Celtic influence has always drawn me to fantastical, whimsical and magical artwork and art forms, and Celtic knotwork, plaids, intricate designs and patterns are an aesthetic I love and wanted to recreate in my own personal style. After struggling to find suppliers of Celtic jewellery within Australia, I set about making my own using precast Brittania pewter charms and ethically made findings. I loved them so much, I thought others would too.

Early on in Celticara's brainstorming phase, I felt inspired to create this as a compassion project and donate 100% of my profits to charity. Through hard work while children slept, and over many months of late night preparation (and help from my incredibly talented photographer friend, Elle!), I managed to launch my little dream project on the Winter Solstice 2022, and am so happy with what I've achieved so far, all thanks to your support!

Míle buíochas agus beannachtaí - a thousand thankyous and blessings!
